About the Festival

What is The Great Big Jewish Food Fest?

A 10-day online festival celebrating the history, diversity, and excitement for all things Jewish food. Join us for cooking classes, virtual city tours, film screenings, panel discussions, happy hours, community Shabbat events, and so much more.

All events are free and open to the public thanks to generous funding from our donors. We welcome and encourage donations to help support those in the food industry who have lost critical revenue during the COVID-19 crisis and those who are experiencing food insecurity.  Learn more about the funds we are raising money for here.

Why now?

The Great Big Jewish Food Fest was born out of this moment and created for this moment. The 10 day Festival (May 19 until the holiday of Shavuot on May 28), was created out of a moment of opportunity, as people are at home and in their kitchens, when food professionals are seeking new opportunities to share their expertise, and when we can hold a top-tier international festival with relative ease (no travel, no conference facilities, and ironically, no catering to coordinate!).

Who’s it for?

We’ve designed programming for all ages and interests. Whether you’re an experienced cook or a novice who’s just getting started in the kitchen, you are welcome. Just please make sure to wash your hands before you sit down for a meal. This community is now more than 20,000 strong, a diverse and global representation of people who love Jewish food.

Who’s behind this?

The Great Big Jewish Food Fest is a collaboration among folks in the culinary and Jewish communities who saw a unique opportunity to enrich the Jewish food space during this unique and challenging time. Check out the extraordinary team who pulled this together in just a few weeks. Darim Online is the fiscal sponsor for the Festival, and we are so thankful for support from the Maimonides Fund, The Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, and The Paul Singer Foundation who have supported the operations to make this experience free for all who want to participate.
