Food Fest Funds

The Great Big Jewish Food Fest was born from a recognition that food industry professionals and small businesses are struggling in our current crisis, many people are facing food insecurity, and as a community we need to come together to support them. We asked, how might we use the talents of our Jewish food community in new ways to make a difference?

Thanks to our generous foundation supporters and the tireless work of an incredibly dedicated team, The Great Big Food Festival is free. While you’re here, we encourage you to make a generous contribution to support organizations helping small food businesses and those experiencing food insecurity. We have chosen the following 5 campaigns as featured beneficiaries because they represent our Jewish values, local and international needs, benefiting individuals, community systems and small businesses:

  • Jewish Food Society’s Feed the healthcare heroes on NYC’s front line, which buys meals from many of our favorite Jewish restaurants and delivers meals the healthcare workers.

  • James Beard Foundation’s Open For Good, a campaign to support the recovery and rebuilding of an independent restaurant industry that is stronger than ever.

  • JDC’s Fund to Provide Aid to Vulnerable Jews, providing food and care for 40,000 of the world’s poorest elderly Jews and children.

  • MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger’s Quick Reaction Fund which helps anti-hunger movement leaders respond quickly to pressing issues that will disproportionately impact the lives of food insecure people.

  • Repair the World's Spring into Solidarity Campaign for Food Justice to support partner organizations, such as shelters and food banks, on the front lines of COVID-19 relief efforts in cities across the United States.

You can direct your donation to support one of these campaigns, or give to the Festival General Fund, and we divide the proceeds among the beneficiary campaigns. [If you would like to make your contribution through a donor advised fund, please make it to Darim Online EIN: 06-1594680]

Through Open for Good, the Foundation is creating new programs to help the industry survive, rebuild, and thrive. MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, Quick Reaction Fund
from $18.00

Inspired by Jewish values and ideals, MAZON is a national advocacy organization working to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel. The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown the gaping holes in our safety net into stark relief. Nearly 40 million Americans struggled with hunger before the pandemic hit. Now, as unemployment skyrockets and the economy takes a serious downturn, millions more need that safety net’s support.

MAZON’s COVID-19 Response Fund supports our critical efforts to push our policymakers, at both the state and federal levels, to ensure that everyone who needs it has immediate access to the food they need, with dignity – and without exposing themselves to further danger by waiting in long lines or putting their dietary or nutritional needs to the side
